At Seating Matters, we are deeply honoured to have played a role in a touching tribute to the life and legacy of Evan Craig. Through the generosity and dedication of his family, friends, and the community, nine of our specialist seating chairs have been donated to the Oncology Ward at Letterkenny University Hospital, ensuring greater comfort for patients undergoing treatment.
Thanks to the incredible €35,000 raised through a Movember fundraiser, these chairs will bring comfort and clinical benefits to patients during treatment at the Donegal hospital. Each chair carries a plaque with Evan’s name, ensuring his legacy of strength and community spirit lives on. The funds raised will also be used to supply the hospital with 12 mini-fridges for patients.
Stephanie Brady, Clinical Nurse Manager 2 of the LUH Oncology Ward, said: “I want to thank the Craig family. Evan was an absolute treasure, he was a lovely patient and he affected a lot of people. These chairs are going to be used by our cancer patients in some of the chemotherapy rooms and in the single rooms. Not only that, the family have donated fridges as added luxuries in the patients’ rooms. It is much appreciated. We thank everybody that has contributed to the fundraising.”
Martin Tierney, Managing Director at Seating Matters, said: "The team at Seating Matters were very aware of the poignant story behind these chairs while they were being made and were honoured to have played a small part in helping create Evan's legacy. I'd like to say a special thanks to Gerard O'Neill and the team at our distributor Evolution Healthcare for their invaluable help in making this happen. We are happy that our therapeutic chairs are helping patients in LUH to be more comfortable and that they are helping reduce the strain on caregivers. Evan Craig's name will be remembered at Seating Matters and his family and friends are in our thoughts."
