Milano Success Story - Restoring Comfort and Independence

This lady faced significant challenges with her seating. She could only tolerate sitting in her transit wheelchair for short periods a couple of times a week due to pain and discomfort, spending the majority of her time in bed. This increased her risk of mobility deterioration, contractures, and pressure injuries. It was especially sad as she loved socialising in the day room, playing bingo, and taking part in quizzes.
Her limited leg movement and fixed lateral trunk lean required a specialised solution. Following an assessment by a Seating Matters Occupational Therapist, the Milano chair was recommended to meet her needs.
Enhanced comfort with posture support for extended periods, effective pressure injury management, improved physical functions such as breathing and digestion. She has also experienced reduced risks of aspiration and chest or urinary infections, her independence is restored and she can now reposition herself. She is also back to enjoying recreational activities and social time.
